Ben Wilson Pride, 62, of Houston, passed away June 25
th
near his home in Houston. He was born to Perry Pride and Louise Wilson Pride in De Queen, Arkansas. He was proceeded in death by his parents and is survived by his sister Elizabeth Lloyd and her husband James Lloyd of Huntsville, Alabama, as well as one niece and several cousins. Ben attended public school in Idabel, Oklahoma before moving to the Houston area, where he graduated from La Marque High School and attended Rice University.
He had a long career as a librarian for several Houston law firms, principally Vinson and Elkins. In 2001 he accepted a position with the Harris County Law Library, where he worked until the time of his death. Ben was a precocious child who loved reading. At the age of eight he expressed the wish that the book he was reading would never end. The book ended but his love of books and reading never did.
Due to the COVID-19 conditions a memorial to Ben will be scheduled later in Houston. The family will hold a private burial service at the family cemetery in Arkansas when conditions allow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ben’s name to Houston Volunteer Lawyers
