“Mema,” Bertha Y. Sra. Bertha, as she was called, was respected by her peers and students enjoyed her straight talk, strong work ethic and her wit.  She was funny, sassy and her laughter was contagious. Her love for music was passed down to her children, her world revolved around making others happy, she was a giver, opened her doors to feed the less fortunate and she looked for an excuse to throw a party for friends and family.  Strong woman that gave what she didn’t have to the ones she loved.  Loved dancing surrounded by family, friends.  She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her Daughter, Cecilia I. de Leon, her Son, Jose Angel de Leon, Daughter in Law, Donnica de Leon, her grandson Abraham B. Ortiz, Jr, his wife Vanessa A. Ortiz, her granddaughter, Cecilia D. Ortiz, husband Eloy Martinez, grandchildren, Bobbie R. de Leon and J. She loved reciting her rosary and felt protected by her “Santitos” and our Jesus. She will be dearly missed when entering a festive room, but everyone that knows her knows she’s already having a Party in Heaven.
