Dempsey Tucker Jr., aged 72 passed away on June 24, 2024 in Shenandoah, Texas after complications from cardiac arrest. Born on February 15, 1952, in Houston, Texas, Dempsey’s vibrant personality and generous spirit left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Dempsey attended The University of Houston, where he studied music. It was while working nights for Houston Lightning and Power that he found his calling in high voltage electrical transmission and distribution which became his life long career. Described by colleagues as a leader, mentor, warrior, father figure and friend. Dempsey dedicated his life to his work, earning respect and admiration from all who knew him.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dempsey was known for this catchphrase, “I’m Dempsey Tucker from Texas,” and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. His love for “puttering around the house” and helping others were sources of joy and fulfillment.
Dempsey leaves behind a loving family: his wife Donna Tucker; son Bradford Wilson (Vickie) and 5 grandsons, brothers Gregory (Kimberly), Gary, and Tracey Tucker (Val); and sister Charlotte Bennett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dempsey Tucker Sr. and Norma Lee Luttrell Tucker.
A celebration of Dempsey’s life will be held later this year. Condolences can be sent the Tucker Family at 10800 Gosling Rd, Box # 130088, Spring, TX 77393.
