Earl E. Kersey Sr

September 19, 1938 — October 18, 2024

Following a lengthy illness, Earl Ernest Kersey, Sr. of Spring, Texas passed away on October 19, 2024 at the age of 86.

Earl was born on September 19, 1938 in San Antonio to Finis Rae Kersey and Wilmoth Milam Kersey. Earl is preceded in death by his parents and four older siblings. While growing up, he worked on water wells and windmills with his father.

After graduating from Texas Military Institute, Earl joined the Army where he met his wife Doris on Christmas Eve. They eventually moved to Texas and he started what would be a 40 year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone (later AT&T). His years with the phone company were some of his fondest memories.

Earl never met a stranger. He was always ready and willing to help someone in need. He loved singing loudly at church, talking on the phone, fishing with his son and boating with his family. Earl was always tinkering and “fixing” things; but not always fixing things.

His wife of 65 years, Doris, passed away 16 days after his death. He is survived by his son Earl Jr. (Pamela), daughter Susan (Edward), and grandchildren Rachel, Sarah, Travis, Rhiannon and Benjamin.

Earl Sr. loved the Lord, and his family, and was so often an amazing guy, but he struggled with the back and forth of a mental disorder throughout his life. All who love him hope he has finally found peace. His family would like to thank all of the home health and skilled nursing professionals who not only cared for him but also shared their knowledge and kindness with his caregiver.

There will be a memorial and interment for both Earl and Doris Kersey at the Houston National Cemetery.
