Eugenia “Jeannie” Rae Govan passed away on February 25th, 2023, 48 hours after her beloved son Kenneth Hilliard. She was surrounded by her family and friends who love and will miss her dearly.
Jeannie was born on August 30, 1927, and as many who are reading this would agree, she did it “HER WAY.” She experienced everything that life had to offer and did not slow down until Jesus took her home. She was a part of the “Greatest Generation” and enjoyed telling her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, how life was as she went through the years. She was always a great source of opinions but not necessarily medical advice, even though she thought she knew more than doctors.
She spent her life devoted to her son, Kenneth Hilliard, as he needed continuous care and she refused to have others’ help. He is her son, and no one on the earth could take care of him as she could. She prayed forever that she would live 24 hours after he passed, well she made it 48.
She enjoyed having wine and listening to live music with all her friends at Clementines Restaurant. Her family would like to thank BJ and Hal Ferguson for always being available to pick her up and take her out on Friday nights. She just wanted to continue living her best life till the end.
Jeannie is proceeded in death by her husband’s Richard Govan, Gordon Craigs, and Harrison Hilliard. It’s always been a joke that “All her Exes were buried in Texas.” Rich was the love of her life, and they were blessed to be married for over 28 years prior to his passing. She will no doubt join him and together they will find the best bar stools and lay claim to them for the rest of eternity.
Jeannie is survived by her daughter Cynthia Polk, Granddaughter and Grandson Trish and Steve Fleming, Granddaughter and Grandson Troy and Linda Morvant, Granddaughter and Grandson Brandon and Carla Powell, Grandson Kyle Poarch. She was also blessed to have Great Grandchildren, Joann and Cody Webb, Jaide Fleming, Jacob Fleming, Lydia Morvant, K.T. Morvant, Dustin Webb, Kaitlyn, and Nathaniel Hillmer, Jasmine Powell, KW Poarch, and Jackson Fleming. Recently she was blessed with two Great Great Grandsons Asher Webb, and Atlas Hillmer.
Although she was not able to attend all the graduations of the “greats” as they are called, she enjoyed watching the kids perform in nutcrackers, dance recitals, band performances, music exhibitions, football, and baseball games, as well as filling in for working moms for Mother’s Day and parties at their schools. She truly loved all these humans with her whole heart.
She is with Jesus, at peace now and out of pain enjoying her reuniting with her beloved Rich Govan.
