Frank Paul Flagge

Frank Paul Flagge Jr. was born February 17, 1955 to Elizabeth and Frank Flagge (both deceased) in Branford, Connecticut.  He grew up in a large family with beloved siblings Laura, Thomas (deceased), John, Mary Ellen, and Michael. He attended local primary and secondary schools, and he began his higher education at Southern Connecticut State College.
Frank moved to Flagstaff, Arizona in 1978, where he met his future wife, Katy Karl. Frank graduated in 1980 from Northern Arizona University with dual bachelor degrees in Biology and Zoology. Frank and Katy were wed on July 18th 1981, and they relocated to Houston in 1983, and later Spring in 1988. Frank continued to pursue his passion for the sciences, completing a med tech certification internship and then pursuing work in medicine. Frank worked at VA Blood Laboratories, followed by Houston Biotechnology Incorporated, Introgen, and finally MD Anderson. Throughout his career, Frank contributed to the development of new medications and treatments largely related to cancer and cellular therapy. Frank is the proud and loving father of Elizabeth Whitney (born 1988) and Maxwell Jerome Flagge (born 1992).
Frank focused his life around helping others and around seeking out tranquility and knowledge. He passed on a passion for aquarium fish, fishing, and the outdoors to his two children. Frank experienced several deeply internal and personal struggles throughout his life, including with mental illness, but his first focus was always on creating a sense of joy, wonder, and belonging in those around him. Frank was a profoundly kind, deeply intelligent, hardworking and caring man with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched through his daily kind words and actions.
The family has asked that should anyone wish to make a donation in Franks name, they have chosen NAMI - National Alliance on Mental Illness as the charity to contribute to.
