James Robert Eckles

James Robert Eckles, affectionately known as Jim, went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2024, in Cypress, Texas, at the age of 82. Born on October 6, 1942, in Youngstown, Ohio, Jim's life was marked by his deep faith, love for family, and an unwavering commitment to hard work.

A graduate of Madison East High School, Jim's path eventually led him to serve in the United States Navy, where he dedicated four years of his life to his country. After completing his military service, he carried forward the values of discipline and perseverance that he learned during that time into his professional and personal life.

Jim was known for his good sense of humor and his willingness to brighten the days of those around him. He was a devoted father, husband, and grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His personality shone through in his interactions, as he always seemed to find a reason to share a laugh and foster joy in everyday moments.

He had a passion for reading, particularly documentaries, which fueled his thirst for knowledge. In his leisure time, Jim enjoyed working on model airplanes and had a particular love for riding and working on motorcycles. These hobbies brought him great joy and served as both relaxation and creative outlets.

A man of faith, Jim cherished his worship at church and found solace in singing Christian songs, which reflected his spiritual devotion and strong belief system.

Jim is survived by his devoted and loving wife Helen Jo Eckles, son Jeremy Eckles and husband, Christopher Wolfe, and he is survived by his bonus children, Harvey Luedemann, Junior, Lydia Smith, and husband Leslie, Amy Luedemann-Lazar, James Cundiff, Rheanna Cundiff; grandchildren and great grandchildren, including Bryce McKenzie, Virginia Brussels and husband, Nachum Brussels Daylan, Leif, Gabrielle, Benzie, Douglas, Kenneth, Tiana Agiunaga and Faith Aguinaga, Nathaniel Cundiff and Toni Jo Jenkins; his siblings: Debbie Shearl and husband Galand Shearl and Carla Matyasz. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Joyce Woodard; father, Harry Eckles; and son, Kevin Eckles. 

Jim's legacy of kindness, humor, and love will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
