James C. Marlar was born in Rosston, Arkansas October 29, 1939 to the late Hazel and Kermit Marlar. He left this earthly world April 5, 2017 after many years of declining health.
James (Jim) attended high school in San Antonio where he played football at South San Antonio High. He spent 1 year at Prescott High School, Prescott, Arkansas playing football with the 1957 team. He graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston, Texas.
In 1961 Jim joined the United States Army and was sent to Berlin, Germany as an Army Security Agent. He was proud to have been in Berlin and to have actually seen the Berlin Wall erected. He was sent to many “secret” places in Europe during his service to our country.
In 1964 Jim decided he had had enough of the Army life and returned to Houston, Texas. That same year he married Nelda Allen formally of Prescott, Arkansas, living in Shreveport, Louisiana at the time. They lived in Houston, Texas and remained married until his death, for almost 53 years. They have 2 children, a daughter Carrie and her husband Jack Thrasher of Rockport, Texas, a son Jason Marlar of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by 1 brother, Gary Marlar of Clear Lake City, Texas, a niece and 4 nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Hazel Marlar and 1 brother Kermit Wayne Marlar. Jim was a proud Mason of 32

degree.
He is inurned at the Houston National Cemetery.
