With great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our sweet Jo Lynda Findley, a loving Mother, Daughter, Sister, and Friend. Jo Lynda of Spring, Texas, passed away on February 1, 2024 at the age of 59. Born on August 21, 1964, in Conroe, Texas to Georgie Kacer Findley Meyer and Archie Lee Findley. Jo Lynda grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas graduating from Brazoswood High School in 1983. She enlisted in the U.S. Airforce in 1986 serving in the reserves until 1994. Jo attended Brazosport College and graduated with an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Service in 1990 and made significant progress towards a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Science.
Starting her career in telecommunications with the U.S. Airforce and eventually as a contractor with Dow Chemical she then landed a career with Chevron Phillips Chemical in The Woodlands, Texas. Jo Lynda started as a PC Coordinator and over the course of 22 years, attained several positions and various certifications advancing to an SAP Security Analyst; retiring in 2018.
In 1987 Jo Lynda welcomed her beautiful baby boy, Joshua Cody Findley into the world. "She was a loving, caring and attentive mother that worked hard to support us in any way she could. Sometimes she'd take me out of school for the day just so we could go to the Houston Zoo, or the museums and parks downtown, just to make sure I had fun as a child. She helped with homework, school projects and got me into various activities that made my childhood exciting and adventurous. She was able to be goofy and we'd laugh at the silliest things, but also show tough love where needed in my rebellious stages. But one thing that remained consistent was her devotion to being a strong but loving presence in my life. I'll never forget the caliber of person she was and how it helped shake me to become. I love you mom, and you will always be in my heart, soul, and daily life."- Joshua Findley
Jo Lynda selflessly donated her time to many charitable organizations over the years. She used her Thanksgiving days to serve meals in Harris and Montgomery County, volunteered for Montgomery County Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity. Jo Lynda devoted time to Surfside beach clean-up, Alzheimer’s walk, ALS Society, American Red Cross, and National Multiple Sclerosis Society events.
Full of life and with a sense of adventure Jo Lynda loved sky diving, enjoyed riding her motorcycle and attended many rallies. Jo Lynda spent many weekends and holidays camping on Surfside Beach, was an excellent cook and loved making dishes related to her Czech heritage.
