John Jeremy Schnur, 79, “Jerry” as he was known to his family, passed away on July 6th, 2018 in Tomball, Texas. He was born on January 4th, 1939, in Aruba, to parents Jack and Laura Elizabeth Schnur. He had the unusual childhood of growing up on the island of Aruba and in Caracas, Venezuela. Vacations were spent in Casper, Wyoming to visit with his stateside family. Jerry attended Kentucky Military Academy, Georgia Tech, and then the University of Miami to obtain his Bachelor's in 1961. In 1963 tragedy struck when Jerry was in an automobile accident that left him partially paralyzed and with significant head trauma. That did not stop him though. He persevered and was able to have a long career as a civil servant for Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Shortly before his passing, Jerry learned of a biological son he never knew he had. He and his son were able to be united; meeting shortly before his death. People will remember Jerry as someone with a great sense of humor. A man with such a sparkle in his eye, he could light up a room.
Jerry is survived by the immediate family of his sister Sandra Yeager and brother-in-law Hal Yeager, and their children, Ron Yeager and Karen Yeager Schneider, their children’s families; his niece on his brother’s side, Abra Schnur and her children; his biological son, Mike Michaud and his family. He is preceded in death by his parents; his biological grandson; and his brother, Garrick Schnur.
