In Loving Memory of John Donald McQuaide

John Donald McQuaide, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 96, surrounded by his beloved family on August 2, 2024, in Spring, Texas. Born on January 19, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Catherine and John Alfred, he exemplified integrity and strength throughout his life.

A proud veteran, John served in the United States Army during the Korean War, embodying the spirit of dedication and loyalty that defined his character. Following his military service, he spent his career at General Cables Industries, where his commitment to excellence was evident—remarkably, he never took a sick day throughout his entire tenure.

In Johns’ spare time, he found joy in reading about world history, continuously expanding his knowledge and understanding of the world around him.

Family was at the heart of John’s life. He cherished moments spent playing on the floor with his children, enjoyed watching classic television shows like “Gunsmoke” and “Everybody Loves Raymond,” and delighted in engaging family games of Gin Rummy and Monopoly. These moments created lasting memories that will forever echo in the hearts of his loved ones.

In his leisure time, John found immense joy and peace in farming and riding his beloved John Deere tractor, where he cherished the simplicity of nature and the fulfillment of working the land. An avid toy collector, he took delight in preserving precious memories through his collection.

To his loved ones, John was more than just a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; he was a steadfast presence, a source of dependability, and a true embodiment of pride in being an American. His legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and service to his country will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing him.

John leaves behind a loving family: his devoted wife of 69 years, Ruth; daughters Kristine and Julianna (Scott); grandchildren Amanda, Ryan (and Katie), and Katarina; great-grandchildren Randy, Riley and Adam; as well as a multitude of relatives and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness.

John Donald McQuaide will be deeply missed, and those who knew him will carry his memory in their hearts forever. May he rest in peace, knowing he left a profound impact on all who crossed his path.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the graveside service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in Stlouis Mo. held on a later date.
