Margaret Ann Haule

February 13, 1945 — April 5, 2025

Margaret Ann Cyzeska Haule, a lifelong educator and loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on April 5, 2025 in Humble, Texas. Born February 13, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, Margaret dedicated her life to early childhood education, teaching countless students and passing along her love of learning to all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

The oldest child of Bolus Cyzeska and Patricia Melvin Cyzeska, Margaret was born into a large Irish and Lithuanian family, where dinners full of music and great food were commonplace. Margaret’s love of faith, food, music and education took root in the warmth of her family.

A graduate of Divine Child High School in Dearborn, Michigan, Margaret went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. She began her teaching career in Michigan upon graduation and continued teaching after moving to McAllen, Texas in 1978. While in McAllen, Margaret took great pride in teaching generations of fifth grade children. She often said it was her favorite age, since the students were still full of the wonder of childhood but were also maturing into young adults. Those who had Mrs. Haule as a teacher knew they were loved, valued, and would be encouraged to succeed. She mentored several new teachers throughout her career and later transitioned into a Reading Recovery instructor, working with children on a one-on-one basis to strengthen their reading skills. She believed reading was a fundamental building block to all academic success, and she excelled at helping children of all skill levels.

Margaret was also the lifelong companion of her husband of fifty-six years, Dr. James Haule, also of Detroit, Michigan. Thanks to Margaret, James taught all his university English classes in pressed, stylish clothes, right down to an ironed handkerchief in his pocket.

She was an avid reader and could read an entire novel in a day. She and James subscribed to the New York Review of Books just to keep her reading list fresh. She loved cooking, gardening, and keeping the cleanest house imaginable. Her daughters often joked about getting her a holster belt for a bottle of Windex and a roll of paper towels. She had a talent for removing stains from any fabric and could make a flawless pie crust. And, above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, of whom she was incredibly proud.

Margaret is survived by her beloved husband, James, her two daughters, Patricia Donnelly and Katherine Graham, grandsons Patrick Jones, Ryan Jones, Benjamin Graham and James Graham, and granddaughter Lillian Jones. Her siblings Patricia Taggart, Frank Cyzeska and Mary Ellen Wampler, along with her nieces and nephews, will miss her deeply. Her legacy will continue through them and the many lives she touched as a teacher, mentor and friend. Her memory will be celebrated at Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Humble, Texas.

As we remember Margaret Haule, we honor a woman whose life was a beacon of kindness, learning and selflessness.
