Michael Dorsa, 65, of Spring, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2023, after a long fought battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Michael was born to John and Josephine Dorsa (née Maggio) of Kenner, Louisiana. He spent his childhood outdoors with friends, and could often be found at the Driftwood pool. Michael met his wife, Karen, in 1974, and they married in 1986. They went on to have three children together, Brooke, Clayton, and Alyssa.
Michael possessed a passion for work in the HVAC industry, taking his family from the New Orleans area, to Pensacola, Florida from 1990 to 1999, and then to Spring, Texas, where he and his family have resided since. Over the years, he continued to grow his career, and had a strong work ethic, which he passed down to his children.
Before moving to Texas, Michael enjoyed decorating his family’s home for Christmas and was known through the neighborhood as the person who went “all out”. Prior to his illness, Michael enjoyed cooking, gardening, working on and learning about computers, and attending his grandchildren’s events. Even after his diagnosis, Michael was adamant about being independent and refused to let the illness keep him down. His bravery was commendable.
Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents, Alex and Mary Maggio (née Salamone), John and Rosalie Dorsa (née Musacchia), uncles Baldasero Maggio and Anthony Dorsa, aunts Rosalie Maggio and Marie Fendlason (née Dorsa). He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karen Dorsa (née Roses), children Brooke Cornelius (Casey), Clayton Dorsa, and Alyssa Machacek (Thomas), grandchildren Bowen, Bellamy, and Bexleigh, parents Josephine and John Sr., brothers John Jr. (Debbie), and Joel (Charmaine), nieces Rachel (Jonathan), Rebecca (Peter), nephews Corey and Jason (Shannon), numerous cousins, and many great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for giving Michael the ability to spend his final days at home with his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the CurePSP foundation.
