Paul Christopher Vern
Spring – Paul C Vern, 64, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his adoring wife and children on February 2, 2021. He was born February 5, 1956 in Houston, TX the son of Louis Zenith Vern and Joyce M (Richter) Vern.
Having grown up and lived in the Houston area all his life, Paul graduated from Conroe HS Class of 1974. Following graduation Paul attended the Houston Fire Academy while becoming a Texas Constable working various local events including the many festivals in the area. After joining the Houston Fire Department in 1975 he loyally spent 25 years with the Houston Fire Department serving at Stations 1, 92, 54 and finally 64. During this time Paul Married his loving wife and best friend Dianna (Carter) Vern, February 21st, 1997 and Paul retired from the Houston FD in 2000.
This new chapter of life lead him to Conroe ISD as a School Bus Driver in 2002, where his wife joined him in 2008. Paul was loved and admired by the students of Conroe and his peers even after his retirement in 2019.
Paul enjoyed watching NASCAR and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan staying loyal even beyond the 90s. In Paul’s free time he loved woodworking; whether it was fine detail work or making wood yard figures for holidays, he put his special touch on all he created. Everyone that knew Paul, knew he was truly happy when he was on the water fishing, spending time in the RV at the lake with his wife or surrounded by his kids and grandchildren; he will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents. Surviving in addition to his wife, Dianna (Carter) Vern of Spring, are his children Chris Vern, and his wife, Nicole of San Antonio; Heather Vern of Lumberton; Dennis (Bubba) Dickerson Jr., and his wife, Virginia of Conroe; Wendy (Dickerson) Martin, and her husband Jeff of Spring; eight grandchildren, Jensen Vern, Taylor Vern, Morgan Vern, Mackenzie Brown, Hailey Boone, Cody Dickerson, Kayley Dickerson, Dylan Martin; three sisters Vyvyan Golden of Spring, Brenda Strack, and her husband Virgil of Huntsville, and his twin Paula Vern of Amarillo, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private service of remembrance will be held 2pm Saturday, February 20th at Immanuel Church 26501 Border Street, Spring TX for family and close friends.
