Steven Barton

Steven Paul Barton, 65, died unexpectedly on November 30, 2021 at his home in Spring, Texas. Born in Rahway, NJ, he was the son of Walter and M. Charlotte (Dingley) Barton. Steve was a 1974 graduate of Brick Township High School. He was a dedicated volunteer firefighter with the Laurelton Fire Department and then the Indian Mills Fire Department in New Jersey and proudly served others as an officer of the Ocean Grove Police Department in New Jersey. Steve went on to a manufacturing career with 20 years at 3M Company in NJ and then with St. Gobain in NY. “Mr. B” will be remembered for his many years as a volunteer soccer coach in Indian Mills, NJ and Averill Park, NY, his help with the Boy Scouts in NJ, and countless hours volunteering with Alzheimer residents in NY. Steve was a caring soul with a constant smile who enjoyed chatting with everyone he met. He celebrated his 43rd wedding anniversary with his wife, Kathy, in November, and was especially proud of each of his children. Steven was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Thompson) Barton; son, Drew S. Barton and his wife, Nicole, of New Jersey; daughter, Jaclyn L. (Barton) Jones, of New York; son Joshua J. Barton and his wife, Kerry, of Texas; daughter, Jennifer M. Barton and her fiancé, Cole, of Texas. He was the extremely proud PopPop to Mikayla, Taylor, and Kyle Jones of New York and Caden, Killian, and Peyton Barton of Texas. He is also survived by his two brothers, Raymond Barton and his wife, Pamela, of New Jersey and John and his wife, Tracy, of New Jersey; nieces and nephews, in-laws and dear friends. Steven was very grateful to the staff at Fresenius in Spring, Texas and to the nurses at Encompass for their care and support. A private memorial will be held in New Jersey in the spring.
